Specialist workshop – Gua Sha Self-Care Massage

Gua Sha is a method used throughout Asia for thousands of years to relieve muscle tension, boost immunity, reduce inflammation, and increase circulation. It can erase fine lines, remove puffiness, reduce cellulite, and release tension, by increasing the flow of blood and micronutrients to the tissues.

The main benefits of practicing gua sha are:

In this session, we will aim to cover the basics of how you can use your gua sha tool to gain some of the benefits mentioned above. It is a lovely way to get in touch with your body and provide more flow and glow!

There are a few conditions where Gua Sha is not recommended, such as:

  • Irritation such as sunburn, rash, eczema, broken skin, and varicose veins
  • Acute skin infection or wound that has not healed fully
  • Bleed easily or hemophilia
  • Taking blood thinners or having clotting disorders
  • Anemia
  • Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome
  • Deep vein thrombosis
  • Have an implant, such as a pacemaker or internal defibrillator
  • Have had any surgery in the last six weeks.
  • Being pregnant (only for massage around belly)

If you have any of these conditions, it can still be possible to use gua sha avoiding particular areas, but please check with your medical team before doing the session.

What you need for the session?

A gua sha tool, a body oil/face oil of your choice, a towel/blanket (to cover the areas we are not working with), you can either do the session in swim suit or over clothing and plenty of curiosity.
