These sessions are full of useful tips to increase your confidence in yourself through becoming stronger, supple , curious, and playful. Join us!
All sessions are open to anyone over the age of 50, and will focus on supporting participants to build strength, physical confidence and prevent falls through dance and somatic exercises peppered with fun and vibrant music.
We do a combination of seated work, barre and dance, using music from a variety of styles. Movement can be tailored to different abilities, so come, have a go and bring a friend. The sessions are devised to support participants to reduce the risk of falls and subsequent injuries, to improve physical and mental health and to enhance their quality of life and independence.
We focus on awareness of our bodies; and increasing our strength, flexibility and proprioception. Special attention is paid to breathing too and to regulating our nervous system. And we have a lovely dance too.
This class is dementia and Parkinson’s friendly and wheelchair accessible.
Who is this for?
Open to older adults who due to age, medication, transitional stages and/or medical conditions, feel less steady on their feet and would like to feel safer. If you would like to develop your balance, improve strength and coordination, promote your physical capabilities, reduce the fear of falling, gain confidence and meet some lovely people along the way, this might be your class.
After the session, we offer free refreshments.
This programme is presented by South East Dance and it takes place at the Dance Space, Brighton.
